My Closet Re-Model!

I recently remodeled my closet and I absolutely love the end results!  It's not the biggest walk-in closet but I wanted to have more function with the space and definitely think that I accomplished that.  I'm already thinking of re-designing the guest room closet!  Click on the link to see the video My Closet Re-Model

Shine Bright Like a Diamond

I am in the process of remodeling my closet and I heard so many good things about the Huggable Hangers that I had to get some for myself.  I chose the color White Diamond because the wood finish that I chose for the closet is a matte white.  I will provide an update and youtube video of the finished closet in the next few weeks.  These hangers are super slim and sturdy and my clothes will no longer droop or slip off the hanger.

Pomander Ball

This Pomander or rose ball as I like to call it was calling my name when I was shopping in Home Goods.  I love how romantic it looks and could not pass it up.  The vase that I currently have it displayed in is not its permanent home as I plan on getting a vase with a more slender neck so that the ball really stands out.  The petals are also soft to the touch and it also has a ribbon to hang the ball but I tucked it in.

Necklace Mannequin Stand

I absolutely love this miniature necklace mannequin stand.  I adorned it with some of the pieces that I retired years ago.  I think the faux pearls really compliment the lace on the mannequin.

Bling Picture Frame and Mirror Jewelry Case

While window shopping at my local Home Goods I came across this beautiful picture frame and could not resist getting it.  I don't have a picture for it as yet, but I will probably end up using a black and white photo to keep in theme with a more classic look.  I also picked up a mini mirrored jewelry case.  I am going to get a clear acrylic holder in the future to hold my rings, but in the meantime I will store them here and continue to use this for decoration purposes.

Jewelry Display

I love getting trinkets to spruce up my home and picked up on a recent shopping trip a beautiful Jewelry  Display.  I really loved the design of the dress on this earring and necklace holder and could not pass it up.  I could picture myself in a dress like this - so elegant and classy.  I don't even want to really hang my jewelry from it because it will take away from the dress.  I will definitely keep my eye out for more of these beautiful ball gown jewelry displays.

Home Sweet Home - DIY Update

I could not make up my mind on which pillow color I should use in my living room and I ended up purchasing 3 different sets from Pier 1.  I took them all home to get a better idea of how they fit into my living room and even though I really loved all the colors I ended up going with the Ivory.  Using a lighter color pillow will allow me to use my artwork and other accessories to add pops of color.

Home Finds! (Home Goods and Pier 1)

I needed to find some art frames for a do-it-yourself project and decided to visit one of my favorite home accessory stores  - Home Goods.  I found 3 white frames that were perfect for this project.  I also found a beautiful (cashmere soft but not real cashmere) throw for my sofa.  I got the spending bug after that nice find and so I went over to Pier 1 to see if some pillows that I had my eyes on for a while went on sale and low and behold they were 20% off!  There was so many colors to choose from but with a little bit of convincing from a fellow shopper, I went green.  The color looks great with my new artwork as well.

Do- it -Yourself ArtWork

I love to decorate my home especially now that I'm a homeowner.  I feel like I can really go all out on sprucing up my place.  In a recent issue of Architectural Digest there were some fabulous photos of jewelry from various designers that seemed to jump off the pages with the bright colored backdrop and the jewelry taking center stage.  I immediately knew that I was going to frame them.  Well, I finally picked up the frames today from one of my favorite home accessory stores  - Home Goods.  My DIY artwork ads a pop of color that I really needed in my living room.  I love how my project turned out and it was so easy to put together and at such a low cost too.

Bed Bath and Beyond Haul

I love shopping at the BBB (Bed Bath and Beyond).  You can get the best stuff for your home from A-Z.  I especially love the 20% discount coupons which I never shop without - why pay more when you don't have to.  My most recent trip resulted in a haul of some fabulous everyday china in white, silky feeling off white table mats with matching napkins and faux crystal napkin holder - I had a few pieces before but I am gradually adding on.  I also picked up a 3 set serving bowl and whisks.  BBB has not seen the last of me! (smile).

DIY Project

When I purchased some leather chairs recently I was disappointed that the color of the legs did not match what was shown online.  I searched for months for the perfect chairs and I did not want to return them (would have been too much of hassle as well).  So I took matters into my own hands and decided to paint the legs myself.  I owned the chairs for several months before thinking about doing this myself because I really did not think I could do it and thought about taking it to a furniture maker (which probably would have cost as much as I spent on the chairs).  A commercial came on advertising the Rustoleum products and so I picked up the furniture refinishing kit and went to work.  Here is the before and after.

Home Style

After renting for years I finally purchased my first place (a condo) last year and I'm really enjoying decorating.  My last place had a more earthy color scheme and this time around I decided that I wanted a more neutral color scheme.  I was going to get dark colored hardwood floors installed (still thinking about doing this) and I think that's where the color scheme came in - that and my sofa is brown/eggplant color.  I don't have a specific place I like to shop - If the look is what I'm going for and the price is right I will shop anywhere.  I'm always looking for artwork and accessories and little touches that make my place cozy and inviting.

 I like to add flowers,

and incorporate accent pillows for a splash of color.
