Urban Decay Dew Me Moisturizing Spray

On my shopping trip today I stopped by Sephora and came across the Dew Me Moisturizing Facial Spray.  I tested it out as directed (spray 2 - 4 times several inches from the face after makeup is applied).  I didn't purchase it today because I wanted to see if it really worked.  This photo was taken about 6 hours after I spritzed my face.

The product's main purpose is to minimize shine, while not drying out your face.  I personally did not feel my look was any different without using this spray, but when I feel like spending the extra $30 dollars I may purchase it.  I actually like a dewy look and not too matte.

Urban Decay Naked Palette

So, after weeks and weeks of debating if I should jump on the Naked Palette bandwagon, I caved in and purchased the original today from Sephora.  I wanted try something other than MAC eyeshadows and based on all the youtube tutorials on this brand I decided to finally give it a try.  I will post a picture of how it looks on me in the near future.  I love the case and the colors will still compliment my MAC eyeshadows.  This palette also came with the eyeshadow primer and eyeshadow brush.

Some of My Favorite MAC Lipsticks

Recently I started getting back into wearing lipstick.  For the longest time I would only wear lipgloss because I liked a shiny finish, but I'm really getting into the more matte look.  I picked up these four  lipsticks from MAC recently and I love them.  I included a post on the Faux (satin) color previously but picked up the colors Half N Half (amplified), Twig (satin) and Brave (satin) yesterday.  Love these colors!

I used to stay clear of the lighter colored lipsticks but I find they don't look bad at all with my skin tone.  They go on really smooth and do not feel dry at all.  If you want to add some sheen then you can opt for a lip gloss in clear or of a similar color and apply over the lipstick.  The colors from left to right are Brave, Faux, Twig and Half N Half.

E.L.F Brushes

I'm always looking for brushes to add to my collection and decided to try out the brushes from E.L.F (Eyes Lips Face) that I've heard vloggers on youtube rave about.  So far no complaints.  What I really like about them aside from the the really low price is the description of the what the brush is for inscribed on the side.   Overall they are not a bad buy for the price.

Milani Baked Powder Blush

Do not snooze on the Milani products.  The Baked Powder Blushes are very luminious and the colors are stunning.  I have on the Red Vino, but I provided a side by side of the Rose D'oro.  Both colors on dark skin tones are really striking.

Shoe Game

I am a big fan of wedges.  Most are really comfortable and as much as I like heels the stilleto's are not always the easist to walk in.  Peep my shoe game today.

Holy Guacamole

I made some delicious guacamole.   I usually pick up the guacamole kit at my local grocery store (Trader Joe's), it's just easier when they have it all together in one place.  I like mine a little spicy so it's nice that they add the jalepenos.  I couple this with pita chips or in this case multigrain crackers.

Mac Paint Pot and Prep and Prime

On my last visit to Mac to purchase more shadows to fill my new palette's the salesperson told me about the paint pot for the eyes to minimize creasing of the eyeshadow.  I told him I already had an eyeshadow base and he was pretty adamant that I try this.  I wasn't convinced so he gave me a sample as well as a sample of the Prep and Prime in the liquid form.  I tried both the next day and I must say he was correct.  My previous eyeshadow base from a drugstore brand was working and I will continue to use but the Paint Pot was 10 times better.  It goes on creamy and dries on me in a light violet color.  The shadow sets nicely over this base.  The Paint Pot color that he recommended for me was Groundwork.  Really love this eyeshadow base.

The Prep and Prime goes on really smooth and does not feel like it's clogging my pores or heavy on my face.  When I apply my foundation or concealer after the prep and prime they just glide right on leaving a luminous feel.  My face looks flawless with this Prep and Prime.  It just takes my makeup application to the next level.

Citrus Juicing

I love to make this citrus drink.  It is a mixture of Grapefruit, Lemon and an Orange.  I also add flax seed oil.  It's just a great way to get a boost in the morning.  Delicious!

More Mac Goodies

I think I'm addicted (smile).  I went to purchase one more shadow and walked out with quite a bit more.   In the last few days I purchased another 15 eyeshadow palette and about 10 more shades.  Well, I do have to fill up both palettes  :-) and I also wanted to have one palette with more cool colors and another with more bright colors (well, that's how I justified the purchase).  Colors - Shale, Sketch, Malt, Da Bling, Saddle, Nocturnal - (below) Quarry, Greensmoke, Vex, Smut

Mac Satin Lipstick

I'm always looking for new colors for my lips and going outside my comfort zone and not stick with the usual nudes or plums.  I tried this Faux Satin lipstick from Mac and fell in love.  To me it looks high fashion.

Fashion Lashes

I have never put on false eyelashes in my life.  It was a bit of a challenge and I really don't think I did it correctly, but I love the way it looks and I'm going to continue applying lashes until I become an expert.  Below is my second attempt.  I love this Ardell brand because it appears really natural and doesn't over power my eyes.  The glue also dries clear and is undetectable.

Shoe Game

I live in California so the weather as you know is pretty warm all year round.  Peep my shoe game today.  I love these nine west espadrilles wedge's (purchased last summer).  I have them in cream and this hot pink color.

Coastal Scents Makeup Brush Kit

Coastal Scents makes a really great makeup brush kit (can't say the same for the eyeshadows - see my post on that).  The Black case feels almost leather like and for 12 brushes at $17.95US you really can't beat the price  - although, a few days prior to my order arriving the same brushes went on sale for $9.95US (they do not credit the difference on sale items unless you just made the order).  Oh well, I think $18 is still not a bad deal considering brushes from other brands can cost that much for one blush brush.  In the future I will add to my brush collection other high-end brands such as Sigma and MAC but these will do for now.

Coastal Scents 88 Original Eyeshadow Palette Review

I only ever used eyeshadows from MAC Cosmetics but I decided to branch out and try a different brand.  I watched several reviews from youtube and I was convinced how everyone raved about the 88 Original Palette by Coastal Scents that it was the best thing since slice bread….I'm not seeing it.  The lighter colors are not as pigmented and I feel the overall quality of all the shades are really powdery.  The size of the palette is great and easy to travel with though.  I purchased the 88 shade palette for $12US.   I bought other things from Coastal scents but this did not do it for me - think I'm going to stick with MAC for the time being.

DIY Project

When I purchased some leather chairs recently I was disappointed that the color of the legs did not match what was shown online.  I searched for months for the perfect chairs and I did not want to return them (would have been too much of hassle as well).  So I took matters into my own hands and decided to paint the legs myself.  I owned the chairs for several months before thinking about doing this myself because I really did not think I could do it and thought about taking it to a furniture maker (which probably would have cost as much as I spent on the chairs).  A commercial came on advertising the Rustoleum products and so I picked up the furniture refinishing kit and went to work.  Here is the before and after.

Soft Cover Makeup Case

I wanted to get a new makeup case and I started researching train cases by Zuca, MAC, and every other brand you can think of.  I am not a professional makeup artist (at least not yet :-) and I just started amping up my makeup collection so I didn't need anything huge right now.  I needed a case that was easy to travel with and not too heavy/bulky.  I'm definitely going to get a hard cover train case as my collection grows which is just around the corner.  This case is by a company called Allegro (Contents is the name of the style) and it allows for great organization.  I can fit so much in this case. The material of the bag is Nylon and wipe proof and it also came with three 3oz empty travel bottles.  Overall it's a very sturdy bag.

Depotting Mac Eyeshadows

So, I shared that I recently purchased some new MAC Eyeshadows but I had some other MAC Eyeshadows that came in the full case and wanted to add them to the new palette.  Youtube is a wealth of information so I researched out to depot MAC Eyeshadows and a tutorial came up of how to do this without using heat.  There were some tutorials that show the use of heat but I think this can ruin the eyeshadow.  So I made a quick run to Home Depot and picked up a wire cutter (this was the only tool I was missing).  Below is the steps and end result….

Old Eyeshadow Case

Remove the color from the main base by using a nail file at the clasp (it pops out quite easily)

Use the wire cutter and snip the corners of the base with the color and peal back to reveal
the pan

Dab the nail file in the Isopropyl Alcohol and slide under the unsealed area going
going between the eyeshadow pan - this will release the glue

I added the above colors to my new Clear Cover MAC Eyeshadow Palette

Juicing

I've been vegetarian for many years and from time to time I love to Juice.  I recently went on a Juice Fast for 2 weeks and I plan on doing it for 60 days straight as a detox.  Below are some of the Juices I like to Drink.  I usually make them myself but it does take a lot of work so I buy them from Wholefoods (they have a fresh juice bar) and Pressed Juicery is another great company where I order Juices.  Another great brand is Evolution from Sprouts Markets.

Green Juice From Wholefoods
Kale  - Lemon - Ginger - Apple - Celery - Cucumber - Orange - Parsley - Spinach

Ground FlaxSeed - Almond Butter - Strawberries - Blackberries-Raspberries-Blueberries - Green Machine Naked Juice

Yum!
